As disciples of Christ, “We believe in the inherent dignity of every human being and that God has a purpose and plan for every conceived child, regardless of the circumstances of their conception and birth. Therefore, every person has a fundamental right to life (CCC.1700).”
The Mission of the St. John Neumann Prolife Ministry group is not just a mission but a calling that we all share, a two-fold calling that is integral to our faith and our community.
The Pro-Life group’s mission is two-fold.
The first aspect is prayer. Prayer is not just a part of our mission; it is the foundation of our work. Our group attends the 5:30 Mass in the chapel on Wednesdays and afterward prays the Rosary for Life to end abortion and for the protection of every conceived child. We pray the mysteries of the rosary provided by Priests for Life and invite Mass attendees and everyone to stay to pray with us. Other prayer opportunities include the Prayer Service at the Cathedral/March for Life in January and prayer groups at Planned Parenthood in St. Paul.
The second aspect is to create opportunities for parishioners to participate in the mission of supporting pregnant women who need help choosing life for their babies. We organize, host, or participate in events such as diaper drives, speakers, participation in the March for Life, and the Pregnancy Choices Baby Bottle drive. We also partner with the Blankets for Babes Ministry to and baby showers, provide Blanket bundles to women in need, and provide free prayer cards to pray for the unborn and their mothers.
We meet occasionally to organize activities, and we want to stress that new members are always welcome. We are a community that values every individual's contribution. Please feel free to stop by after the Wednesday Mass and Rosary.
