The Pilot knob Cleanup Ministry mission, guided by the Catholic Social Teaching of Caring for God’s Creation, is a mission of utmost importance. As we are reminded in the book of Genesis, “In the beginning, God made the heavens and the earth, and it was good (Genesis 1: 1)." This divine act of creation entrusted us with the responsibility to preserve, protect, and improve the land for the benefit of all. In our small way, we are preserving our four-mile stretch of land as God intended, each of us playing a vital role in this noble cause. Let this mission inspire and motivate us all.
Everything is connected. Our duties toward the world are linked to our Discipleship duties - toward the human person. This ministry is not just about maintaining the land; it’s about fostering a sense of community and love for our neighbors. When walkers and drivers travel along our stretch of road, they will be greeted with a little joy, a reminder that we are all in this together. It may even inspire them to care for their and other parts of this beautiful planet we call home.
