“[Jesus'] gaze, the touch of his heart heals us . . .
enabling us to become truly ourselve and thus totally of God.”
- Pope Benedict XVI, Saved by Hope

The desire for healing and wholeness in body, soul, and spirit is essential to our faith. As Christians we believe that the Son became man to restore us to wholeness and to bring us into full communion with the Father and one another. When our body, soul, and spirit need healing, it can be difficult for us to encounter God at the depths to which God and we desire. Yet we can often resist, fear, or hesitate to do the very things which can draw us fully back to wholeness and healing in God.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an important sacrament to bring healing into our relationship with God and others. We are blessed at St. John Neumann to have many opportunities available for confession. Another important way to enlighten us to those things in our lives which may hinder a close encounter and full communion with God and others is through healing prayer.
All prayer, including healing prayer, is so much more than simply what we have to say to God. Prayer also requires us to listen to what God has to say to us and through us. In this way, healing prayer ministers are conduits for the Holy Spirit as they prayer with recipients; there is no human agenda involved but rather God’s will for all at that moment in time. Healing prayer ministers are trained to abide always in the Holy Spirit – especially while healing prayer is taking place. While in prayer they listen for the inspiration of the Spirit to guide their prayer and then follow the movement of the Spirit as their words are led by the Divine. As a healing prayer team meets with a prayer recipient, all conversations are held close to the heart and kept in the deepest confidence.
Recipients can ask to receive prayer from our prayer teams for such issues as healing, blessing, encouragement, impartation, empowerment and more
during various upcoming parish events.
Individual appointments are also available for healing prayer. To request an appointment, please contact [email protected] at 651-209-8590.
