First Reconciliation and First Communion

The First Sacraments preparation is designed in partnership with parents to prepare children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion for the first time.  This preparation is open to all children who are baptized, in second grade or above, and have attended faith formation at a parish or Catholic school last year.

If your child has been baptized in another Christian tradition (not at a Catholic Church) or has not been baptized, and is seeking to become Catholic along with receiving First Sacraments, please contact Claire Dzurik at [email protected] for more details about our Children's Initiation process.

Program Components 

This program includes two parts: weekly at-home lessons and monthly church gatherings. Parents/guardians lead their children through a lesson at home once a week. Renewed and Received curriculum, pacing guide, and weekly support is provided. Families attend a church gathering once a month. Children gather in classes led by catechists and parents gather for community, formation, and small group discussion.

There are also two in-person retreats that parents attend with their children; one before Reconciliation and one before Communion. Retreats include prayer, talks, crafts, and activities.
