Blankets For Babes Ministry
The Blankets for Babes Ministry is dedicated to a noble mission: supporting women and their babies at any stage of pregnancy by creating beautiful, quality blanket bundles. Our purpose is to evangelize with love and care, to be the light of Jesus in the world.As disciples of Christ, “We believe in the inherent dignity of every human being and that God has a purpose and a plan for every conceived child, regardless of the circumstances of their conception and birth. Therefore, every person has a fundamental right to life (CCC. 1700).”We firmly believe:- God has a plan for every human being.
- Every human person is created in the image and likeness of God.
- In the inherent dignity of the person born and unborn.
- We believe every person’s life has meaning, a purpose, and worth that is irrevocable.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month, from September through May, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, in the Youth Room at St. John Neumann Church.What do we do at the meetings?- Our members bring an assortment of baby items, such as baby blankets, burp cloths, hats, mittens, etc., to the meetings.
- We organize the materials, fold the blankets, arrange the baby items, and wrap them into beautiful, practical blanket bundles.
- We also delight in creating a fleece blanket or two at the meetings, a joyful and fulfilling activity that brings warmth, happiness, and blessings to both the creators and the recipients.
- We bless the bundles and gather in a circle to offer our prayers for the mothers and their babies who will receive these blankets, infusing them with the love and hope of Christ.
- Once the bundles are ready, our members take on the heartwarming task of delivering them to the following Pregnancy Support Centers: City Life Center, Cradle of Hope, Guiding Star, Pregnancy Choices, and the St. John Neumann Giving Tree, which provide essential support and resources to mothers in need.
- The bundles, a testament to answering God’s call and Christian duty, are distributed to mothers in need, serving as a beacon of hope and a tangible expression of our commitment to the most vulnerable in our community.
Basic Blanket Bundles include a hat, bib, burp cloth, receiving blanket, small blanket, and a crib-size blanket.What do we need? The ministry always needs fleece, flannel, blankets, yarn, hats, and gift cards for JoAnn Fabrics. Your donations are not only welcome but crucial to our mission.Come and join us! Your unique skills and contributions can make a significant difference. We are always looking for new members, and we welcome everyone.If you can't join us, you can make blankets at home or gather with your school, faith formation, or social community group to make blankets and drop them off at St. John Neumann.
