Through St. John Neumann's Initiation Ministries, Catholic faith, worship, and life are explained, reviewed, lived, and deepened.
There are several pathways depending on one's experience and what one needs. Inquirer and staff have a conversation and discern what will be the best path to a lifetime of Catholic Christian discipleship.
Adults who are not baptized
These adults move through a process called OCIA, or "Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.”
Our sessions together include reflection on Scripture, a presentation on Catholic teaching, opportunities for questions, discussion, and prayer. The Bible, especially Sunday Mass Readings, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church are the primary sources. There are short videos online to watch between sessions.
The sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) are received at the Easter Vigil. It is not necessarily a one-year preparation.
Our gatherings are Sundays from 1:15-3:00pm. Contact Pat Howard at [email protected] for more information.
Adults who are baptized in another Christian tradition yet are new to "personal" Christian faith, particularly in the Catholic tradition
AND
We have a five-session series to prepare for the sacrament(s) needed, using the same materials and format as described above. Sacraments are received at Mass when convenient and outside the Advent and Lent seasons.
Active Catholic Adults who did not receive Confirmation when younger
Preparation for Confirmation for these adults depends on circumstances. The sacrament is received at Mass when convenient and outside the Advent and Lent seasons.
Contact Pat Howard at [email protected] for more information for all adults ages 18+ or use this form: Reception into the Catholic Church and/or Catching Up on Sacraments.
