| Contribution to Parish Mission Statement: The Christian message is of its very nature to be shared. We encourage and support evangelization and outreach activities in our parish. |
| Description |
| A sponsor is a Confirmed, practicing Catholic who journeys with a candidate weekly. S/he is a friend and a listening presence. A sponsor is not an answer person. He/she needs to be familiar with basic Catholic practices but trained catechists are responsible for introducing the deeper theology and Church teachings |
| Responsibilities | |
- To be present at RCIA sessions.
- To be present at Rites.
- To be a supportive presence to the candidate
- To introduce the candidates to the Catholic Church.

| Qualifications |
| Confirmed, practicing Catholic, non-judgmental attitude, listening presence, a person of faith, prayerful person.
Volunteers 13 and older in this ministry are required to attend a Prohibited Behaviors Orientation class and complete a background screening package. |
| Time Commitment |
| At least 2 hours per week, sometimes more depending on Rites. |
| Length of Commitment |
| Depends upon how long the candidate participates in the RCIA. It could vary from 4 months to a year. |
| Training |
| 1 1/2 hours in late August and on the job training. If a person becomes a sponsor after the normal beginning of RCIA, the Director will personally train her/him. |
