Description
Help articulate,shape, and lead the justice & charity ministries at St. John Neumann. Promote sharing of ideas and information among Justice and Charity ministry leaders and participants as well as other commissions. Plan, facilitate, and evaluate justice and charity events in order to be effective in both our work and messaging. The Commission serves as a vital liaison between the Parish Council and parishioners.
Responsibilities 
  • Attend 8 commission meetings a year. Help prioritize the budget for Justice and Charity ministries. Compile final report of ministry activities/self-evaluation each year to the Parish Council. Serve as a resource to the Parish Council in matters related to justice and charity and communicate concerns of the Parish Council to ministry participants.
  • Help actively encourage parishioners to participate more fully in both justice and charity activities through education and role-modeling. .
  • At-large members are more than welcome and just need to have an interest in the work of the Commission and a willingness to attend meetings.
Qualifications
An interest in charity and justice. Involvement in a ministry (or past involvement) is helpful. A willingness to consider big-picture issues beyond those of an individual ministry.
Time Commitment
8 meetings(2 hours each). Time to read minutes or other communications (usually via email) and a willingness to respond to requests in between meetings. Occasionally our work will require work outside our meetings. How involved you to choose to be is up to you. Personal development opportunities available. Annual Retreat.

September -May
Training
Provided in Orientation for Ministry Leaders via Ministry Leaders Handbook; and meetings with Pastoral Associates.
Responsible To
Commission leadership and Pastoral Associate for Justice & Charity.
