Teen Christian Community (TCC) Substitute Catechist

Life long education is essential to growth in Christian faith. Supporting the religious education of our youth is an integral part of our mission.
Description
Fill in for TCC catechists on an on-call basis. Late-September-April, Sunday evenings at either 4:15-5:30 or 7:15-8:30. See #927 for training dates. (Training is OPTIONAL for substitutes, for familiarity with program details.)
Responsibilities 
  • Prepare self in understanding of and comfort with weekly lesson plans.
  • Meet when called upon with 8-10 young people to lead their session.
  • Facilitate faith discussions, share your faith stories, and show how you live your faith.
Qualifications
Love and care for teens. Be affirming of youth and their gifts. Be assertive with rules and expectations. Be able to share your faith. Be enthusiastic and sincere. Be willing to help on short notice.
Time Commitment
On-call basis. Preparation time: 15-30 minutes. 75-minute sessions with youth are on Sundays from 4:15-5:30 p.m. or 7:15-8:30 p.m. Catechist Training is OPTIONAL for substitutes; come if desired for program/curricula familiarity. (See ministry #927 for Training details.)

Additional Requirements
Volunteers 13 & older in this ministry are required to attend a Prohibited Behaviors Orientation Class and complete a Background Screening Package.
